(5/4) Hair - Edited

After you suggested editing my work I went back and played in Photoshop. I liked the darkness but thought again to see if I would like it any other way. When I was playing around in the Levels I found that you could see evidence of the scanner and I was able to make it look like an early digital photograph and I liked it even more. It gave it a more etherial look.

In any media I like to be able to see the mark making, if it is painting I love paint texture, in drawing I love hatching. It only makes sense that I also like the scan lines in Scanography.

  1. I do agree with you that I like the darkness of the first set of images more, before the edits. But I also do like how this set gives you the idea of you and the scanner as a collaborator (how you are the subject matter and scanner is giving you a visual evidence of its presence by giving you the "static"). Mark making also gives you a sense that there is human touch to everything even when technology is a huge part of the process.

  2. I like your photos, especially the second and fourth images. It's showed the textures of hair and also give me the sense of mystery. It's kind of tell me the back story behind the hair. Because it's showed the face not very clearly, but tells something.

  3. In some ways this project reminds me of a Renaissance painting. The hair has texture which gives depth to the piece. Very pretty scanopgraphy. There is an aura of mystery too.
