This is my original image from class.
Idea number 1:
Create an octagon pattern to repeat and fade in and out of the image to contrast old and new geometry.
Idea number 2:
Overlay one of the ceilings from my PDF, possibly one of the industrial bridges to contrast new and old structural architectural elements.
